Synopsis: -
| Based on a novel by Christopher Priest, The Prestige follows two Victorian age stage magicians who stuggle to outdo each other. Alfred Borden (Christian Bale) and Rufus Angier (Hugh Jackman) are rival magicians who were once friends before an on-stage tragedy drove a wedge between them. While Alfred is a more skilled illusionist, Rufus is the better showman; much of the first half of the film follows their attempts to sabotage or better each other's tricks. Alfred even enlists the help of a prop inventor (Michael Caine) and a comedy assistant (Scarlett Johansson). |
